Lack of diners
I live in one of the largest cities in the world. London has everything except for one thing suitable places to eat at 4 in the morning.
I know of one 24 hour diner/sit down food place. It 's near Paddington station. I don't remember the name but they have the best burgers I've had in London and 24 hour breakfast. The thing is its owned by some Americans who came to London and saw the need for a diner. It is great except its in Paddington which is rather far away from the uni and from where I live. I have been back 3 or 4 times though but still its far away.
One night I was in the west end near charring cross and lecister square at around 4 in the morning. We were hungry, very hungry and wanted to sit down someplace, anyplace really. But as we were walking, things were closing. This was a Friday night or actually a Saturday morning and there were loads of people but everything was closing. Finally out of desperation, we went to a McDonalds and we could order things but had to eat it outside of the McDonalds. Plus they weren't serving milkshakes. What's the point of going to McDonalds if you can't even have their milkshake. It was pitiful. So we ate our meal on the steps of charring cross station. I'm sure that's exactly what Westminster council wanted to see, 4 students sitting on the steps to go into the station eating a mcdonalds meal and freezing their butts off while trying and talking to this homeless and seeing if there was any 24 hour place open(He wasn't that helpful) The reason why we see so many drunks on the street is because there no place where one can go to get a nice strong cup of coffee or something in their stomach before they try and head back home. Rather then ASBOs, we need more diners. It would solve all the problems
Now I'm not sure if there some law saying that they can't have 24 hour diners(if there is it should repealed, same with the Sunday opening hours-large shops such as food stores can't open for longer then 6 hours on a Sunday). But I can't understand where there isn't more open at night and more places to sit down and eat. Yes I do have a cafe open across the street and they open at 7 or so but close by 3 in the afternoon.
I'm hungry and would like a nice burger, chips, and a milkshake and someplace that I can read a little bit. Can I find this place, yeah but I have to go to Paddington.
