101 posts

This is my 101 post. I'm quite happy that I've posted that much in a somewhat short period of time. Now not all of my posts have stellar reading and a fair amount of them have been inside jokes, but I'm happy with what I've produced. Plus its a great place to complain about stuff

I realise my blog is called Development As Freedom and I haven't written that much about development. When I do talk about important things, they tend to be more on the IR sides of thing. It because firstly, IR is a much easier field then development and so easier to write about. It is also because I've really found much about development to speak about. If I started this blog last year there would have been loads of stuff. That being said the next two months and the next 100 posts will contain a lot more about development. I will search high and low for development stuff. In a few weeks, hopefully I'll have taken out a potion of my EU essay which deals with the EU development policy and post it up. It needs a little work though.

I think it might be a good time to explain why I've choose Development As Freedom as my title of my blog. It is because I owe a lot to the book. Before reading the book, I had never thought about going into development studies. I wanted to do history or possibly IR but never development studies. But then I read Amartya Sen's book and it just blew me away. He did this by make me think that was entirely possible to achieve a world without poverty and a world where freedom is the status quo rather then for a select few. I thought and I still think Sen's book is amazing. I've read it countless times and every time I learn something new. He is very insightful and amazing writer. Plus its a rather cool title and nobody else seems to be using it so I thought "what the hell" and used it as my name.
