Virginia does not control the Potomac
I was reading this story about the ceremony for the new Woodrow Wilson bridge(I click on the wrong link, i was trying to get a Nats story). It has the governors from both Maryland and Virginia coming. The ceremony is going to be called "Uniting the States." Which has to be one of the stupidest names for a bridge ceremony ever. In fact why even name the ceremony? Can't we just call it the bridge opening ceremony or actually technically, opening one span of the bridge ceremony. Anyway, they want both governors to walk across the bridge and meet in the middle. Now this will be a good photo image and such but it's not correct. Maryland owns the Potomac. Virginia has no claims to the Potomac and so technically Maryland controls the bridge up to the moment it hits Virginia land. So i think the governors should meet at that point, not in the middle which is Maryland land.
